The mission and task of the ALSOPREV Foundation is to support the development and improvement of the prevention system for risky behavior and to enhance mental health among children, youth, and young adults up to 26 years old in the Czech Republic. We strive to increase the availability and spread of verified, high-quality, effective, and safe preventive programs and interventions for this target group and support their implementation in practice. We consistently aim to support good preventive practices, i.e., practices based on modern knowledge and the transfer of science into practice in the sense of evidence-based approaches.
The prevention of risky behavior and the support of mental health and well-being among children and adolescents have become critical topics for our entire society. We aim to strengthen and support the development of measures and interventions in this area, which significantly impact the educational preparation of children, the entire educational process, and the safety of children and adolescents in schools, educational institutions, and local communities.
About Us
ALSOPREV Foundation
The ALSOPREV Foundation was established in 2024 on the initiative of Professor Michal Miovský and Dr. Tomáš Hlaváček. The fundamental philosophy and purpose of the Foundation’s existence are to help and support the development of the prevention system for risky behavior and to improve mental health among children, youth, and young adults up to 26 years old in the Czech Republic. The Foundation’s charter clearly defines its focus on prevention and the support of its systemic and infrastructural development and anchoring in our country: “The mission and purpose of the ALSOPREV Foundation are to support the development and cultivation of the prevention system for risky behavior among children, youth, and young adults up to 26 years old, particularly through targeted support for (a) education and professionalization, (b) the development and verification of preventive programs and interventions and their implementation, (c) increasing the quality, safety, and effectiveness of prevention, and (d) targeted support and strengthening of infrastructural tools.”

Focus of the Foundation
Prevention
The ALSOPREV Foundation closely builds on and follows the results of the work of hundreds of professionals who have been involved since 1999 in developing the domestic prevention system in schools and communities. These results are now represented, disseminated, and supported in an integrated form by the national IPREV platform, with which the Foundation closely collaborates and whose activities it also supports. Prevention, in line with this platform, is defined for our purposes as targeted professional activity/work requiring specific education and practice. Prevention can be any type of educational, health, social, or other intervention aimed at preventing the occurrence of risky behavior, stopping its further progression, mitigating existing forms and manifestations of risky behavior, or helping to address its consequences. Professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies are referred to as preventive workers. Prevention is implemented through preventive programs that have precisely defined characteristics to achieve positive influence (behavior, attitudes, opinions, etc.) in a given target group (e.g., children in elementary school). The impact of preventive programs can be scientifically verified and measured.
Basic Philosophy
of Support
The goal and mission of the ALSOPREV Foundation are to help and support the development of the prevention system for risky behavior and to improve mental health among children, youth, and young adults up to 26 years old in the Czech Republic. The core philosophy of our approach to assistance is based on these principles:
- Primarily supporting activities and initiatives that help develop school and community prevention systems.
- Focusing critically on the development of infrastructure and infrastructural tools in school and community prevention.
- Supporting primarily non-commercial activities, initiatives, and projects conducted in the public interest.
- Supporting innovative projects and ideas that face challenges in accessing standard forms of grant or other support and have the potential to positively influence the development of prevention in schools and communities.
- Promoting the dissemination and sharing of know-how (educational and innovative projects, new methods, and approaches), where authors and implementation teams agree and are willing to share their work results under defined conditions and enable their use by other entities (schools, prevention providers, etc.).
Current Priorities of the Foundation
For 2024 and 2025, the Foundation announced two main priorities for its support:
- Promoting good practices in school prevention programs: identifying, propagating, and supporting the dissemination of examples of good practices in schools, including examples of involvement and coordination of school prevention programs by prevention coordinators and school principals (needs analysis, structure and content, implementation, coordination and management, financing, sustainability, monitoring, evaluation, etc.).
- Supporting the creation, development, and dissemination of examples of “minimum sets” of preventive programs in schools and/or communities, i.e., specific combinations of preventive programs and their implementation in specific schools and/or communities.
- Supporting the infrastructural IPREV project and its components.
Help Us Help
Why Prevention?
The ALSOPREV Foundation chose school and community prevention as its support goal simply because modern preventive tools/interventions/programs demonstrably (scientifically verifiably) achieve very high effectiveness. In other words, they can significantly positively influence the development of children and adolescents, reduce the extent of risky behavior, and help create safe and supportive environments in schools and broader communities. Evidence-based prevention can help us address the challenges of today’s world in a concrete, clear, and targeted way at economically sustainable costs, improving safety in our communities and reducing the extent of problems associated with the consequences of risky behavior. Every professional preventive program has clearly defined and measurable goals to achieve with its target group. Today, it is also possible to measure the achievement of these goals using research tools and strategies and examine the costs or conditions under which the desired effect was achieved. Similarly, it is possible to monitor whether, for example, any undesirable/unintended side effects occurred in the target group.
Principle of Assistance and Support
The ALSOPREV Foundation is an independent institution with a clearly defined mission and function. The principle of prevention support through this institution is simple. Any entity (individual or legal entity) that decides to help can contact us and support either a specific project or a priority area of interest (see Current Priorities – active button) or contribute to the Foundation without a targeted link to a priority area and leave the selection of support to the grant call and the decision of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
How to Get Involved
Contact us at our permanent address or email. We will be happy to meet with you and discuss your interest and intention to support our activities and contribute to the development of prevention for children and adolescents in our country.
